Our Insider's Guide: Things to do in Cheshire

We absolutely love that Arighi Bianchi is based in Macclesfield, Cheshire. What makes Cheshire worth a visit? It’s a fabulous place for a day out or weekend away, with many high-end shops, stunning countryside walks and lots of things to do with kids.

So now Spring has finally sprung in Cheshire, and with Easter weekend just around the corner, if you’re wondering what to do with the long weekend, members of the Arighi Bianchi family and our team have rounded up some of their favourite things to do in Cheshire.

Our insider tips on what to do in Cheshire include the best places for walks, where to find the famous Oli the Choc chocolate, our favourite things to do with the family, great places to shop, and even where to hang out for a bit of celeb spotting - yes, really!

The best walks in Cheshire

Nothing says ‘bank holiday weekend’ like a good walk through the blooming spring countryside. Preferably followed by cake! Here are our top spots to get your steps in this Easter:

The Edge at Alderley - perfect for a breezy walk with dramatic views, this sandstone ridge offers a 1-mile circular route that takes around 45 minutes to an hour. On a clear day, you can see right across the Cheshire plains to Manchester, and even the hills of the Peak District. And, if you’ve worked up a post-walk appetite, The Wizard Tearoom is the perfect place to stop off for a slap-up afternoon tea with a fairytale twist or of course come and visit us here at Caffè AB for a post walk brunch, lunch or afternoon tea.

Lyme Park - nestled on the edge of the Peaks, Lyme Park in Disley is packed with history and stunning landscapes. Once home to the Legh family, this 1,400-acre estate is ideal for wildlife lovers – make sure you keep an eye out for the red deer. This Easter, little ones will love the Easter Egg Hunt Trail in the garden. Follow the path, play games, tackle challenges, and collect your very own chocolate egg at the end. This is also the iconic spot where a dripping wet (and very gorgeous) Mr Darcy emerged from the lake to meet Miss Eliza Bennet in the BBC’s Pride and Prejudice.

The best kids attractions in Cheshire

Chester Zoo - we couldn’t do a round-up without mentioning Chester Zoo; it’s a forever favourite of ours and the incredible Heart of Africa is now open just in time for Easter. It’s the largest zoo habitat in UK history, spanning 22 acres and home to 57 African species. From towering and timid Northern giraffes to the fascinating creatures of the Hidden Savannah, it’s all included in your entry ticket – and absolutely worth the visit.

Brook House Farm, Mottram St. Andrew - this working farm and farm shop is a real hidden gem. If you visit this spring, you can meet adorable spring lambs and shop for delicious home-grown organic produce. And you definitely won’t want to miss the Baked By Bean van, serving up all manner of delicious cakes, bakes, cookies, blondies, and brownies.

Tatton Park - Tatton Park is Cheshire royalty when it comes to family days out. With over 1,000 acres of parkland, 50 acres of gardens, a historic mansion, and a working farm, it’s a full-day adventure. This Easter, join the Mr. Men™ and Little Miss™ Easter Adventures across the mansion, gardens, and farm – think storytelling, egg hunts, and hands-on fun all weekend. And don’t miss the pop-up Easter market, packed with artisan food, local makers, gifts, homewares, and – of course! – chocolate.

The best places to eat, drink & people watch

Located on London Road in the heart of Alderley Edge village, Victors is one of our favourite spots for sushi, afternoon tea, and cocktails. Grab a drink, soak up the spring sunshine, and keep your eyes peeled – you never know which famous faces might be enjoying a cocktail nearby!

Another hot spot to mention is Suburban Green. There’s one in Macclesfield as well as Wilmslow where you can enjoy sitting in the sunshine to enjoy an Aperol Spritz or beer and watch the world go by.

If you want to do something more creative during a visit to Cheshire over the Easter break then try the ‘make & bake’ spring workshop taking place at The Flower House in Macclesfield on Wednesday 16th April. Start by making your own seasonal bulb planter before renowned chocolate expert Oliver Dunn (aka Oli the Choc) guides you through making Hot Cross Bun Truffles with Belgian chocolate, orange, and cinnamon. You’ll also get to create your own chocolate lollipop masterpiece. Yum!

The best places to shop in Cheshire

Of course, first on our list of places to shop for designer brands in Cheshire is here at Arighi Bianchi! And with our Spring Sale in full swing – including fabulous savings of up to 25% off furniture, flooring, homewares, and accessories – the Easter break is an ideal time to visit. Moreover, on Easter weekend (Good Friday to Easter Monday), we’re also holding a special Showroom Clearance Sale offering EGG-stra ordinary discounts dotted around the store. It will be like an Easter Egg hunt but to discover fabulous furniture finds at end of line prices. While here, visit our award-winning Caffè AB for food or drinks.

For designer clothing, we recommend browsing the boutiques in Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Knutsford. Alternatively, the numerous charity shops within our Cheshire towns have a fantastic selection of bargains. The area is famous for the charity shop finds on offer.

The best places to play padel in Cheshire

If like many members of the Arighi team you love to play padel, then there are certainly a couple of hotspots to visit in Cheshire. You can enjoy padel at Champneys Mottram Hall, Cheshire, which has The Hook Club, or just beyond Wilmslow there is The Padel Club.
