Expect an emphasis on authentic, durable materials such as oak, mahogany and natural stone. Velvet, tweed, and linen are frequently used for upholstery alongside handcrafted furniture and accessories.

Jewel tones like emerald green, deep navy and burgundy are used to create contrast and add depth, often inspired by British landscapes and historical interiors, and traditional patterns are updated with abstract or oversized renditions to keep them relevant. From Pantone’s 2025 Colour of the Year Mocha Mousse to the lemon vibes of Dulux’s chosen hue for this year True Joy, choose colour palettes inspired by food. Earthy tones like caramel and espresso and shades reminiscent of ice creams and macarons will have our mouths watering when we look around our home interiors. Materials like marble and wood, with grain patterns that mimic swirling chocolate or artisanal bread, tie into the theme, as do fabrics like velvet and boucle which evoke the smoothness of cream or the fluffiness of meringue.

It is the design world’s response to an era where subtlety, sustainability, and authenticity are valued more than overt displays of wealth. This trend is about creating spaces that exude sophistication and comfort, rooted in restraint and attention to detail.

Emphasis is placed on authentic materials like marble, solid wood, linen, cashmere, and wool, showcasing their natural beauty. Furniture designs are clean, with refined lines and proportions. Think mid-century modern pieces or timeless European styles.
